WATCH RAMOS TALK ABOUT TRADING STUDIO FOR FACEBOOK STREAMING
Ramos and his ‘AMERICA’ production team has been experimenting with the Facebook Live Video feature over the past several months.
“We’re always looking to break with the conventional approaches to covering news events – focusing on different ways we can engage with my peers on all the platforms we use to consume news everyday,” said Dax Tejera, executive producer of “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos.” “It’s been great for Jorge and our team to experiment with Facebook’s new Live Video feature to conduct interviews and do field reporting over the past several months, exposing more people to FUSION and our show. It will continue to be an exciting tool for us to use as we cover the first votes cast in tonight’s caucuses.”
Jorge Ramos first used Facebook’s Live in August – at that time he had 190,401 fans on Facebook. That number has grown over the last several months to over 1.4 million fans with many of his Facebook-native videos garnering millions of views. The first social-native video, posted on August 18, focused on Donald Trump’s immigration proposals and has over 6 million views. In November, Ramos became the first anchor to conduct a sit-down interview with a presidential candidate via the Live feature on Facebook; the interview with Dr. Ben Carson aired later on “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos.” It was the first time a media organization used the feature this way since it was introduced in August 2015. Earlier this month Ramos also live streamed his interview with Secretary of Defense Ash Carter using the platform.
In December, FUSION’s Alicia Menendez sat down with Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama Valerie Jarrett on Facebook for an interview that was live-streamed using Facebook Live, marking the first time Facebook’s live video feature has ever been used at the White House.
Gabrielle Tudin is the social media producer for “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos.” “AMERICA” airs Tuesday’s @ 10PM on FUSION’s cable network.
