FUSION to Air ‘YouTube’s Top News Stories of 2015′ on Sunday, December 20 @ 8PM
FUSION is joining forces with YouTube to count down the Top News Stories of 2015, showcasing the big events, the controversial topics and the funniest videos that racked up millions of views. It’s the year in User-generated content: YouTube’s top News Stories of 2015, shot and reported by You. The special will be hosted by FUSION’S Mariana Atencio (@MarianaAtencio), Kimberly Brooks (@KimNikiaBrooks) and Romina Puga (@RominaPuga) with contributions from FUSION’s editorial team. “Youtube’s Top News Stories Of 2015” will air on Sunday, December 20 @ 8PM on FUSION.
- Mariana Atencio reports on the year’s big stories with user generated video, including the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Paris, and the growing reach of ISIS at home and abroad. She discusses how social media has become an invaluable tool for authorities but also an outlet for terrorists and mass shooters, with Storyful’s David Clinch (@DavidClinchNews) and FUSION’s senior editor Kashmir Hill (@kashhill). Finally, Atencio covers how young people used their cell phones to document police brutality and protest discriminatory political rhetoric, shaping the 2016 presidential campaign.
- Kimberly Brooks takes a look at some of the most revolutionary events that changed the world from the removal of the South Carolina’s Confederate flag to the legalization of same-sex marriage. She also talks about a year full of girl power with all the fabulous women who kept making headlines.
