Fusion’s Jorge Ramos Named to TIME 100 -- Magazine's Annual List of the Most Influential People in the World

TIME magazine has named FUSION’s Jorge Ramos to the 2015 TIME 100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Ramos is the anchor of newscasts on two networks, in two languages, for two audiences – “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos” on the millennial-focused network FUSION in English and Univision’s “Noticiero Univision” and “Al Punto,“ the top-rated Spanish-language newscasts in the U.S.

"He knows he has a voice and is not afraid to use it,” Christiane Amanpour writes in her piece about Ramos. “With another presidential election coming up, if anyone can move this needle, Jorge Ramos can—and he must.”

Jorge Ramos is one of the most highly respected and recognized journalists in the World. He has received eight Emmy Awards for his work, including his coverage of five wars and many of the most important news stories of the last two decades, including the fall of the Berlin Wall, the disintegration of the former Soviet Union, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and Hurricane Katrina. Ramos is the author of eleven books and bestsellers and writes a weekly column for more than 40 newspapers in the United States and Latin America distributed by The New York Times Syndicate.

The full list and related tributes appear in the April 27 issue of TIME, available on newsstands and tablets on Friday, April 17, and now at time.com/time100. The list, now in its twelfth year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.

As TIME Editor Nancy Gibbs has said of the list in the past, “The TIME 100 is a list of the world’s most influential men and women, not its most powerful, though those are not mutually exclusive terms …. While power is certain, influence is subtle…. As much as this exercise chronicles the achievements of the past year, we also focus on figures whose influence is likely to grow, so we can look around the corner to see what is coming.“
